Oak and Walnut Practice Sword

$75.00
This is a wooden sword loosely based on the Japanese katana. It is approximately 42 inches long including an approximately 11 inch long handle. The "blade" is made out of solid red oak and continues unbroken from tip to the end of the handle for strength and rigidity. The handle and hand guard is made out of black walnut. The balance point is approximately 2-3 inches in front of the guard.

Why so many "approximate" measurements? There are 12 of these available and as they are all made by hand and individually by me, each one will be slightly different.

The finish is a non-toxic hard wax oil with a satin finish.

I originally started making these several years ago when my entire family was taking karate lessons together. Swords are used as part of the forms that we did and, well, quality metal swords are VERY expensive and do a lot more damage to things if you accidentally hit something with them. So I made these to practice with.

That said, PLEASE be careful with these! They are made out of Oak and Walnut and will absolutely hurt someone if you hit them with it! They can also still do a lot of damage to property if you hit things with them. These are NOT meant for hitting things. If you hit things with them, you will likely damage those things, not to mention damage the sword itself. It's not likely to break, it IS oak after all, but the "edge" will get all dented up if you hit hard objects. These are meant for practice and/or costume/cosplay.
